Ryan Hunter Reay is at the top of Andretti's List

Former Champ Car Racer Ryan Hunter Reay has been confirmed to be top in line for the fourth and final seat on the IRL's Andretti Autosport Team.

Ryan is making his rounds in the IRL starting w/ Rahal/Letterman Team, Then with that team disbanding at the end of the 08 season Ryan found a ride w/Vision Racing for the 09 season, but then had to change to the A.J. Foyt team when Vision ran into financial problems 1/2 way thru the 09 season. Ryan got his first IRL win at the 08 Watkins Glen Race while w/ The Rahal/Letterman Team.

He denied that a deal with Hunter-Reay was already near completion, but is highly optimistic that his team will still field four cars.

We have a lot of interest in Ryan for sure," said Andretti. "If it would all work out, it would be great. I think he'd be a really good addition to our lineup, and I think he could help push the other ones and make us all better. That would be our first choice at the moment."

 Word has it that sports wear manufacturer IZOD having a personal deal w/Ryan and will also be the Indycar's Series Title Sponsor could help push thru the deal for Reay.

Whatever the outcome for this final seat w/ the Andretti Team we wish the best for Ryan and hope he continues on in the Indy Racing League for 2010 & beyond. As the economy is now playing a major part in every race teams decision we think Ryan still has a good chance to fill the Andretti Team's 4th seat.

I was at Moran Raceway at the end of 07 just testing some different helmet cams w/Ex Champ Car, Indy Car and former IKF Champion Rocky Moran Jr. when Ryan Hunter Reay and his dad pulled into the track and Ryan had bought a new kart he wanted to dial in.

Ryan and Rocky have been friends for years and went out on the track to do some test laps together and I was able to get some of that footage w/ a helmet cam I was testing w/ Rocky at the time.
